How to convert your site visits to sales

Much effort is spent attracting visitors to web sites, and the number of site visits is important in judging the success of an online marketing campaign. However, attracting visitors to your site is only the first challenge. You need to convince those visitors to come back—again and again.

Most important, if the purpose of the site is to sell products or services, you need to persuade your visitors to make a purchase. A million site visits are of very little value if you cannot convert any of those visits to sales.

Converting web site visits to sales depends largely on attracting the right type of visitors to your site in the first place. If the visitors who come to your site are not truly interested in your products and services, then they will not make a purchase. Search engine visibility is crucial to attracting site visitors.

Unfortunately, although search engines can bring interested consumers to your site, they can also attract a lot of irrelevant and unhelpful traffic. The information included in your search engine listings should give an accurate sense of what your site is all about so that you attract visitors who have a real interest in what you have to offer.

Once you attract the right type of visitors to your site, you need to keep them coming back. Maintaining a user-friendly, easy-to-navigate home page is extremely important. You will attract more site visits if your home page conveys a clear sense of what the site is all about and what it has to offer. Visitors to your site should not have to work hard to figure out the purpose of your site or to find the information, products, or services that they want and need.

Avoid including too many links or too much information on your home page. The information that is included should be interesting enough to make visitors want to explore your site in more depth.

Repeat site visits increase the likelihood of conversions. Web users come back again and again to sites and pages that they like and have familiarity with. Avoid making unnecessary changes or “improvements” to your site, especially to your home page.

For frequent site visitors, a visit to your home page should feel like just that – a visit to the familiar comforts of home. Consumers and web users crave a certain amount of predictability and like knowing that they will find features and products on your site exactly where they expect them.

Google Adwords allows the use of specific keywords in a PPC Campaign. A PPC campaign can be target special customers in the right manner. Make sure your PPC campaign is well planned and monitored which ensures its success.
